Mask your Aadhaar number

Hide the first 8 digits of your Aadhaar number before you share a copy with a hotel, landlord, office or bank. Works with the e-Aadhaar PDF and with a photo of the card.

First 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS + year of birth, e.g. RAVI1995. Not stored.

Free, no sign-up. Your files are deleted automatically after 24 hours. Create a free account for more tools and a file library.

    How to use it

    1. Choose your e-Aadhaar PDF or a clear photo of your card.
    2. For the PDF, type its password: first 4 letters of your name in CAPITALS + year of birth (e.g. RAVI1995).
    3. Press the button and download your masked copy. Open it and check it before you share it.

    What is a masked Aadhaar?

A copy of your Aadhaar where the first 8 digits of the number are replaced with XXXX XXXX and only the last 4 are shown. UIDAI recommends sharing a masked copy wherever the full number isn’t needed, so your number can’t be misused.

    How this tool works

The number is found with text recognition (OCR) and covered on every page where it appears. The 16-digit Virtual ID (VID) is left as it is. PDF results are rebuilt from images, so the hidden digits can’t be copied out of the file.

When you need the full number

Some services — for example certain bank KYC or government schemes — need the full number. Share the original only with them.

    Questions

Is this the same as UIDAI’s masked Aadhaar?

It hides the same digits. You can also download a masked Aadhaar from the official myAadhaar website; this tool is handy when you already have the PDF or only a photo of the card.

    Is my Aadhaar safe here?

Files are processed on our server in India and deleted automatically after a few hours. The password is used only to open the PDF and is never saved.

    It couldn’t find my number

Use a straight, sharp, well-lit photo of the card with the number clearly visible, or the e-Aadhaar PDF.
