US visa (DS-160) photo size

The DS-160 photo must be a square JPEG between 600 × 600 and 1200 × 1200 pixels and no more than 240 KB, in colour, with a white or off-white background.

    0 = keep in proportion
    0 = keep in proportion
    0 = no limit
    0 = leave as is; PAN forms ask for 200

    Size requirements

    From travel.state.gov digital image requirements. Glasses are no longer allowed except for medical reasons.

    How to use it

    1. Choose a recent colour photo, face centred.
    2. Press Resize: it is cropped square to 600 × 600 px under 240 KB.
    3. Upload it to the DS-160 form.

    Head size

    Your head should take up 50–69% of the image height, from chin to top of the hair. Start with a photo where your face is centred with some space around it.

    Questions

    Can I use the same photo for the visa appointment?

    Use a photo taken within the last 6 months that meets all the State Department rules.
