How to make a passport size photo at home
The Indian passport-size photo is 3.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm tall. With a phone, a white wall and a window you can make one at home that is good enough for most forms and ID cards.

Taking the photo
- Stand about half a metre in front of a plain white or light wall.
- Face a window or light so there are no shadows on your face or behind you.
- Ask someone to hold the phone at your eye level; look straight at it with a neutral face.
- No cap, no dark glasses; both ears visible if the form asks for it.
The right size
3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI is 413 × 531 pixels. The maker crops your photo to exactly that shape and saves the DPI inside the file, so it prints at the correct size.
For the passport itself
For an Indian passport, the photo is taken at the Passport Seva Kendra — you don’t need to bring one. Visa photos for other countries use other sizes (for example 2 × 2 inch for the US).
Step by step
- Take a clear photo against a white wall.
- Open the passport size photo maker and choose it.
- Press the button to crop it to 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI.
- Download the JPG for forms, or print it on photo paper.
Questions
Can I use it for exam forms?

How do I print several on one sheet?
Make the photo here, then put several copies on an A4 page with JPG to PDF and print at 100% scale.
