Why exam portals reject your photo or signature — and how to fix it
An upload error at the last minute is stressful, but the causes are almost always the same few. Go through this list, or let the checker test your file against your exam’s rules in one go.

Problems with the file
- File too large: shrink the KB (not just the pixels) until it is under the limit.
- File too small: some portals need a minimum, such as 20 KB. Pad the file — the picture doesn’t change.
- Wrong format: the portal wants JPG/JPEG, but a screenshot or edited picture is often PNG.
- Wrong pixels: bank exams ask for exactly 200 × 230 (photo) and 140 × 60 (signature).
- KB counted differently: some portals count 1 KB as 1024 bytes. Stay a little inside the range.
Problems with the picture
- Dark, coloured or busy background: use a plain white or light wall.
- Face too small or not centred: the face should fill most of the photo.
- Signature too faint, too small, or in capital letters: sign in black ink in running handwriting and crop close.
- Blurred photo: hold the phone steady, in good light, without zoom.
Still rejected?
Clear your browser cache, try another browser, and make sure you are uploading the new file (check its name and size). If the portal shows a specific error, compare it with the notification — limits sometimes change between years.
Step by step
- Open the checker and pick your exam.
- Choose whether the file is a photo, signature, thumb or declaration.
- Upload the file and read the green/red checklist.
- If anything is red, press “Fix it automatically” and upload the new file.
Questions
Does the checker guarantee the portal will accept it?
It checks the published rules. Portals can add their own checks, so the portal always has the final say.
Why does the portal say my 20 KB file is too small?
It may count 1 KB as 1024 bytes, so 20 KB means at least 20,480 bytes. The tools here aim slightly above the minimum for this reason.
