How to resize your photo and signature for an exam form

Updated 6 October 2026

Most online exam forms reject a photo or signature for one of three reasons: the file is too big or too small in KB, the pixel size is wrong, or it isn’t a JPG. Here is how to get all three right in a couple of minutes, using only your phone.

Open the exam form kit Free, no sign-up. Files deleted after 24 hours.

KB and pixels are two different things

Pixels are the width and height of the picture (for example 200 × 230). KB is the file size on disk (for example 20–50 KB). A form can ask for either or both. You can change the pixels by resizing, and the KB by changing the JPG quality — a good tool does both and stays inside both limits.

What most exams ask for

  • IBPS, SBI and RBI: photo 200 × 230 px, 20–50 KB; signature 140 × 60 px, 10–20 KB; plus thumb impression and hand-written declaration.
  • SSC and RRB: the photo is captured live; you upload only the signature (SSC 10–20 KB, RRB 30–49 KB).
  • UPSC: photo 20–200 KB, signature (signed three times) 20–100 KB.
  • NEET, JEE Main, CUET and UGC NET: photo up to 200 KB; signature limits differ by exam.
  • Always check the notification for your exam — limits change between years.

Taking a good photo with your phone

Stand in front of a plain white or light wall, face a window or light, and hold the phone at eye level. Remove caps and dark glasses. Take the photo in portrait (taller than wide) and don’t zoom — move closer instead.

Taking a good signature photo

Sign with a black pen on plain white paper, in your normal running handwriting (not capital letters). Photograph it from directly above in good light so there is no shadow. The kit trims away the extra paper and turns it pure white.

Step by step

  1. Open the exam form kit and pick your exam.
  2. Choose your photo and signature (and thumb and declaration for bank exams).
  3. Press “Make my upload files” and wait a few seconds.
  4. Check the green checklist, then download the ZIP or each file.
  5. Upload each file in the exam portal.

Questions

My file is under the minimum KB — what do I do?

The tool pads small JPG files to reach the minimum without changing the picture, so a 12 KB photo becomes, say, 21 KB.

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes. Everything works in the phone’s browser — no app and no sign-up.

Is my photo safe?

Files are deleted automatically after 24 hours and are not shared with anyone.
