UPSC signature three times: how to do it
Recent UPSC applications ask for your signature written three times, one below the other, in a single JPG between 20 and 100 KB. It catches many candidates off guard — here is how to get it right.

Signing
- Use a black pen on plain white paper.
- Sign three times, one below the other, in your normal running handwriting — not capital letters.
- Keep the three signatures close together so they fill the picture.
Photographing and sizing
Photograph the paper from directly above in good light. UPSC’s limits are 20–100 KB in JPG with each side between about 350 and 500 pixels; the UPSC page here is set to fit inside both and trims the extra paper away.
The photo
The UPSC photo must be recent, with a white background and your face covering about three-quarters of it. UPSC also takes a live photo during the application and matches the two.
Step by step
- Sign three times on white paper with a black pen.
- Photograph it from above.
- Open the UPSC page and choose “Signature”.
- Press Resize and download the JPG.
- Upload it in the UPSC application.
